Professor Simon Gandevia

Simon Gandevia is the Deputy Director of the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute and Professor at the University of New South Wales.  His research and clinical work is directed to understanding the human brain controls muscle performance.  He is an expert in the proprioceptive control of movement, central fatigue and limits to muscle performance, and in the neural drive to human respiratory muscle.  He has published a number of influential reviews and has published more that fifty articles in the Journal of Physiology.  One of his current projects concerns the use of functional electrical stimulation to assist muscle performance in patients with spinal cord injury.
