Georgia Cairns

Georgia is Client Services Manager/ Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Paraplegic and Quadriplegic Association of NSW (ParaQuad NSW).

Georgia has over 15 years experience as a clinical nurse specialist, having worked in acute care at Royal North Shore Hospital, rehabilitation at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney and now in the community for ParaQuad NSW, where she currently manages the Clinical Services team. This is a small team of spinal specialist Registered Nurses and Occupational Therapists who manage the health needs of people with a SCI who are 18 years or older and who are members of ParaQuad living in the community. ParaQuad Clinical Staff are responsible for managing the health needs of SCI people 18mnths following discharge from Spinal Rehabilitation Units and immediately following discharge from non specialist units. Our relationship with our clients and their significant others lasts throughout the clients life.

As a Clinical Nurse specialist Georgia mostly assists clients to maximize their bladder and bowel management and resolve skin breakdown however she also gives advice to clients about sexuality and fertility issues and equipment issues. Her goal is to make the client as independent in their health care as possible so that they are free to enjoy the many other aspects of their lives.
