Darrell Meredith
Darrell has over 15 years experience both in community and hospital settings in social welfare. His work has mainly focused in the areas of traumatic injury and community rehabilitation. He is currently a coordinator for the Community Participation Project (CPP). The CPP is an initiative of the MAA and Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) and was established to provide assistance to people with a newly acquired spinal cord injury living in NSW. Up to 40 participants will be assisted for 12 months after leaving hospital. The primary aims are to increase their participation in the community and better coordination of government services. Darrell’s role is to assist participants to prepare a “Whole of Life Plan” as soon as possible after injury, locate formal and informal supports and services in their local community and working across all relevant government agencies. An independent evaluation will be conducted and experiences and outcomes for those receiving support and guidance will be compared against a similar group who have not received the intervention.
