Professor Ashley Craig

Professor Ashley Craig is the Professor of Behavioural Sciences in the Department of Health Sciences, UTS. In 2002 he became the Associate Dean (Research and Development) in the Faculty of Science. He was granted an Honorary Doctorate in 2002 for his research with neurological disability from South Western University.

He has extensive experience in psychophysiological research. His research has been recognised in UTS as an area of research excellence and expertise by the awarding of a Key University Research Centre in Health Technologies. Professor Craig is a co-director of this unit with Professor Hung Nguyen. Professor Craig’s work with brain activity has had a substantial impact in the media and in professional prizes. He has researched a number of areas, such as stuttering, spinal cord injury and adjustment, cortical activity and disability (Mind Switch), driver fatigue and so on. He is well known in these areas, being a guest speaker at national and international conferences. His work with “hands free” EEG control for the disabled has been widely acclaimed and this work has been published in excellent journals in the area. He continues to investigate theoretical and applied issues related to brain activity.
