Andrew Murray Andrew Murray sustained a T2 spinal cord injury following a motor vehicle accident when he was 29. At the time of his injury Andrew was working as a Nurse Educator in an adult intensive care unit in Sydney. Since his injury Andrew has undertaken additional studies in Medical Ethics and Law by distance learning to ensure that he would be able to find satisfying employment post his SCI. Andrew joined the ParaQuad Community Services team in March this year and is currently working as a registered nurse with clients in the Attendant Care Program. When Andrew completes his work in Attendant Care he will transfer across to the clinical services team. Even though Andrew is a Pommy and distanced from most of his family and friends that he grew up with he has maintained strong relationships with them and has found their support invaluable. “I realized pretty early after my injury that having the support of those around me was crucial, my nursing background gave me insight into how some people reject the support of those closest to them.” Andrew married his girlfriend who he had just started a relationship with before the accident, they are planning a family and have personal experience of IVF procedures. |
