Research

There is a great deal of research being conducted both in Australia and internationally that continually brings a greater understanding of, and treatments for, spinal cord injury and related neurological conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), Transverse Myelitis, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, and spinal cord tumours.

The latest research news from Australia and the worldwide web, relating to each of these conditions, is published monthly in the Making Connections e-newsletter. To read back issues, or subscribe (its free!) please follow this link.

To find out more, you can look up clinical research that is currently underway in the United States, Australian centres and institutes specialising in neurological research, and a range of links to research organisations and related websites.

For researchers, news about research grants and funding opportunities is available here.

In looking into developments in scientific and medical research, you may find it useful to read these information sheets produced by the Craig Hospital (USA):

Understanding Research I: Finding the Information You Need
Understanding Research II: Medical & Research Articles
Understanding Research III: Those Scary Statistics
